Final Fantasy 7 Anniversary Edition? Maybe!

Just this week, Square announced its new business plan – remakes, re-releases and sequels planned for the future!

Of late, Square-Enix has been releasing many an old game on new consoles – although frowned upon by critics because of how easy it is to do most of the time, it has kept Square er… squarely in the green zone when it comes to profits! So to capitalise on this, Square has just announced it’s newest full-blown marketing strategy.

From here on in, Square will be focusing on remaking re-releasing old games and franchises, as well as creating new sequels to these games!

And what does this mean for the general Final Fantasy fan? Well, combine this with the fact that 2007 marks Final Fantasy 7′s 10th anniversary, and that we were recently told more ‘Final Fantasy: Anniversary Editions’ were going to happen very soon, we may yet see a Final Fantasy 7 remake!

Now this isn’t by any means official, so keep an eye out during May when the Square-Enix Party happens – a ‘big announcement’ of a new game is to happen here. Expect this to either be a new Final Fantasy 10 sequel, another chapter in the 12 story, a new entrance into the FF13: Fabula Nova Crystallis series or…Final Fantasy 7: Anniversary Edtion.

Well, that or a totally new FF7 sequel! You never know!
